In Preschool, mathematics are considered as a tool that allows the children to get to know, interpret and intervene in the world surrounding them. In a learning environment that activates the children’s interest and engages them in mathematical activities that make sense, the children classify, categorise and organise, identify properties and relationships, test, control, find solutions, and draw conclusions. The children have the opportunity to approach mathematical concepts through play and social interaction, putting to use their pre-existing knowledge and experiences.
